Later today Apple will present iPhone OS 3.0, the next version of the world’s most advanced mobile platform. For developers there will be over 1000 new APIs. What does this mean for you and me? Well first off, developers will be able to access more of the iPhone, including the iPhone dock connector. This will allow them to create hardware devices, that the iPhone can interact with. For example, a blood pressure monitor or keyboard, just to name a couple. What other cool additions will this next gen OS offer? How about the ability to search your iPhone via Spotlight or Cut, copy, and paste. While I never have seen a need for this, it will now be able to send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS. Perhaps one of the most requested features, besides Cut, copy, and paste was a landscape keyboard mode. While no date has been set publicly for this release, expect to see it this June.
