Philips Hue digital lighting system will be sold exclusively in Apple Stores. The Philips Hue web-enabled smart bulb can be controlled from your favorite iOS device. Basic functions like turning the bulbs on and off are just the tip of the iceberg, you can also adjust the color and intensity of the light via a free iOS app which is available now. That app even allows you to match the hue of the light to any color from one of the photos found in your iPhoto Library.
The Hue starter pack is available for $199 and includes 3 LED bulbs and a special Wi-Fi controller. You can purchase additional bulbs at $59 each. According to Philips each bulb uses about 80% less power than conventional bulbs and has an estimated lifespan of 15 years or 15,000 burning hours.
