10-Year Tritium Glowring Keychain

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Do you remember those “glow-in-the-dark” watches of days past? How about the liability trial of the “Radium Girls” in the 1930s? Well just forget those dangerous days of using Radium, as there is a new player in town, at least to the gadget game. Tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen.

The best feature tritium is the fact that it is safe, at least for now. It also allows your keychain to glow for approximately 10 years, making it all the more difficult to loose your keys. Available in a choice of a white or green glow.

[$9.80 each from DealExtreme]

Lets mess with TSA

Monday, March 31st, 2008

While I am sure that TSA will have no problem with the Mini Tritium Glowing Keychain, I don’t want to be the person who tests that statement. The mini-keychain uses the same radioactive material found in compasses, watches and other items that glow in the dark. You should never need to purchase batteries, since Tritium glows ‘naturally’ with our the need for a separate power source, even in complete darkness. The Mini Tritium Glowing Keychain will be able to go on glowing for approximately 10 years. It retails for $9.80 each and comes in a choice of a white or green glow.

Electroscape LED Fireplace Lightshow

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

The Electroscape fireplace from Platonics has a remote-controlled LED lighting system built in. Granted those LEDs probably don’t put off enough heat to do, well anything. But that’s what the optional 2kW built-in space heater is for. The LEDs will mix, from single color to multicolored, all via remote control. You can even specify what ‘fire’ objects are displayed inside: driftwood, pebbles or gravel. Available now for around $3100 in the UK.
